Mahbilil Festival is held in the parklands around the Jabiru Pool (cnr Civic Drive & Kinchela Rd). Jabiru is 300km from Darwin along the Arnhem Highway with a good sealed road all the way.
It is the gateway to Kakadu and an excellent base from which to explore the Park, the rock art at Ubir, Yellow Waters cruise and the various other natural wonders of the region.
Accommodation is provided in a sequence of resorts and campgrounds in Jabiru and surrounds. In Jabiru – Mercure Crocodile Hotel, Aurora Kakadu Lodge and Anbinik, the latter two with camping/caravan sites. There are also some other hotels in the nearby region, such as Aurora South at South Alligator and Cooinda at Yellow waters. Kakadu National Park has a series of campgrounds within the Park as well.
