Mahbilil 2019 program

The Mahbilil 2019 program will be packed with incredible live music, sumptuous bushfood cooking, mesmerising traditional dance,  engaging workshops, massive Dreamtime sculptures, electric contemporary dance, and video projections, a Mahbilous mah-ketplace and so much more.

Program for the Mahbilil Weekend:

Friday 30th August:
Mural Launch.
6-8pm
Old Bakery, Gregory Place
In partnership with Marrawuddi Gallery, a new mural is being painted by artist Ellie Hannon (who did the mural at the pool last year) working with Bininj Artists Graham Rostron, Ray Mudjandi and others. Come and check out the mural and meet the artists. Live music, drinks and nibbles available.
Free Entry. No Alcohol.

Saturday 31st August
Festival day
Festival Park – cnr Kinchela and Civic
12-3pm – Pool Inflatable Activity Centre
2 – 6.30pm – waterslides in the Pool area.
2 – 11pm – Festival – bands, workshops, food stalls, bushfoods, JAS performance etc.
Free entry. No Alcohol.

Sunday 1st Sept
Family Film Night – “Bran Nue Dae” – Rated PG
6.30pm
Croc Hotel Event Lawns
Chairs provided, or BYO picnic rug
Food and drink menu by the Croc. No BYO alcohol.
A new event for Mahbilil Festival – screening the Australian classic ‘Bran Nue Dae’ under the stars at the Croc.
“Bran Nue Dae is a charming Australian-based, music-driven road movie/romantic comedy starring Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush, Missy Higgins, Ernie Dingo and Jessica Musboy that literally bursts onto the screen with unbridled energy and fun. Loosely based on one of Australia’s most beloved and popular musicals, Bran Nue Dae is a foot stomping tour-de-force centering on the romantic adventures of a young aboriginal couple set against the spectacularly beautiful Australian landscape.”
